Convictions: |
I
am convinced that our relationship with God is dynamic, ever evolving
and pervades every single aspect of life. I believe that every
choice we make has spiritual implications. I'm convinced the New
York Jets are worthy of my fan-hood despite their record. I'm convinced
the best is always yet to come. I'm convinced that I don't know
everything and that there isn't always (if ever) an easy answer for the
big questions about life and God. I'm convinced we should keep
asking those questions and more. I'm convinced that I married way out
of my league. I'm convinced that Jesus Christ is my God and
Savior and that somehow, despite myself, He loves me. I'm
convinced that his death, burial and resurrection ensure me eternal
life. I'm convinced I'll live forever.

Background: |
I was born in Eugene, Oregon the same year the
Portland Trailblazers won their only NBA championship, Elvis died
and a little movie called Star
Wars debuted. I was born on the same date as the
ancient Chinese philosopher Confucius, which can only mean one thing ...he's
a lot older than me.
My parents responded to a call to the mission field of south-east Asia
when I was eleven. I spent seven years in Taiwan and
enjoyed a life-time of cultural exposure and horizon broadening in
just eight years. I came back to the states intending to study
graphic design at Berea College in Kentucky but God totally derailed my
plans and landed me in Bible College in Iowa. From there I
wandered, landing in places like Reno, Nevada, Denver, Colorado, and
Enid, Oklahoma.
For some crazy reason, some ill-advised church gave me a full-time
preaching opportunity in Centerville, Iowa. I was there for
six years, being loved by a growing congregation and doing my
post-graduate work via the school of Trial and Error. Then,
in May of 2007, God once again radically altered my life and
planted me in Woodbury as Youth Minister. ...and the best is
yet to come!

Wife & family: |
I met my wife Corinne at a church event in
Denver, Colorado. The actual details of the chance meeting
are still the subject of much debate. (For the record I did
not do what she says I did. And she did "gleek"
me.) Corinne was living in Enid, Oklahoma and, by miraculous
coincidence, I felt a "spiritual calling" to Enid.
We were married in October of 1999 in Oklahoma where I did not
become a Sooners fan. God
knew exactly what qualities and characteristics I was missing and
blessed me with them in the form of a beautiful wife.
We are blessed with two adorable little girls, Te'a Grace and Avery Cate.
