Convictions:
|
I believe in this church’s mission statement: We seek
to be Christ-focused, Cross-centered, Grace-minded. The goal of my ministry
is to point people to the Lord Jesus Christ. In the words of Andrae Crouch:
Jesus
is the answer for the world today.
Above Him there’s no other. Jesus is the way.
I
believe the Bible to be the inspired word of God. I am amazed at the depth of
Scripture on so many levels. It speaks to spirit, heart, and mind with
incredible richness.

Background:
|
After earning an
undergraduate degree in Mathematics from the University of Oklahoma (I’m a
Sooner born and a Sooner bred), I attended Harding University’s School of
Biblical Studies. After completing that program, we joined a church-planting
team and for seven years worked with a church in Minnetonka. In 1987, I
changed careers and began working in the tech industry.
After working with U S WEST, Qwest, and Dell (in
Austin, Texas), I changed careers again (or was it a return to my original
career?) and joined the staff here in 2004. We had been here before—I had
served as an elder here from 2000 to 2002—so we were blessed to be able to
return to people we knew and loved.
I began work at Bethel Seminary in 2004, and in May,
2008 received
a Master of Divinity degree, with a concentration in New Testament studies.

Wife & family:
|
My wife and favorite person,
Becky, and I have been married for almost thirty years. We have two fantastic
children, Sarah and Phil. Through marriage they have given us two more
wonderful children: Ben, Sarah’s husband, and Jenna, Phil’s wife. Sarah and
Ben live in the Dallas area. Phil and Jenna live in Abilene, Texas where they
have both recently finished degree programs. We allow our grandchildren,
Aidan and Norah, to live with them there.
